Data-based Journalism Network in Yemen launched by SEMC

Under the slogan “Towards New Data-based Yemeni Journalism,” SEMC launches Wednesday Data Journalism Network in Yemen. The Network aims to enhance data journalism through training and circulation of methods and easy-to-use journalistic tools. SEMC director, Mustafa Nasr, says that launching this Network meets the dire need for data-based journalism, especially as traditional long-winded narrative methods are still widely popular. He adds that the aim of data-based journalism is to provide short and interesting information and analyses to the public, explaining that data journalism enhances the professionalism and impact of the profession, and opens up a new horizon for journalists to utilize technological advances in the media field.
The Network’s page on Facebook provides a pool of information on data-based journalism, in addition to sharing news sourced from various data-based Yemeni media pages.
The Studies and Economic Media Center (SEMC) is one of the most prominent Yemeni NGOs that works on , and spreads awareness of economic issues, in addition to buttressing good governance and public engagement in decision making, and working towards the creation of professional media.
