     \nSEMC has concluded the training program “Building the Capacity of\nwomen journalists in leadership skills, editorial journalism, occupational\nsafety and digital security,” held last October in Taiz and Aden.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thirty female journalists from the\ngovernorates of Aden, Sana’a, Hadhrmout, Taiz and Hodeida participated in the\nprogram. They received intensive training in both Aden and Taiz for 72 hours\n(in each governorate), and the three workshops focused on editing, newspaper\nwriting, how to lead media team and digital security. It also aims to enable\nwomen journalists working in journalism institutions to have the keys and\nleadership skills to access decision-making positions in their respective\ninstitutions, as well as the editorial skills to manage editorial meetings. The\nprogram is being implemented under the second phase of the “Makanati”\nproject to promote women’s presence and advocacy in the Yemeni media in\npartnership with the French Agency for Media Development (CFI) and with the\nsupport of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Europe.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \nSEMC project coordinator Haifa Mohamed confirmed that the program\nfocused on training 30 women journalists on tools for women journalists,\ndrawing on many successful models at the local and regional levels in bringing\nwomen journalists to important levels of decision-making, having conducted\nthree workshops focused on two batches of 12 women journalists from Taiz and\nHodeida in Taiz, 18 from Aden, Sana’a and Hadhrmout in Aden”.<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also she added: “We rely a great deal\non women journalists who have received training during the first and second\nstages to advocate for women’s issues in media and gender equality both through\ntheir media production and through the institutions with which they collaborate\nand work”.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fatima Baabad, one of the trainees from\nAden, said: “This training program is one of the programs that made a\ndifference to me as a journalist, and I felt that there was a lot to do after\nthe three workshops in which I received new knowledge of skills.” In the same\ncontext, Doa’a Al – Zomar said after she took part in the training program in\nTaiz: “All in all, this program is a remarkable opportunity for me and my\ncolleagues, and certainly, as we have received, it will reflect positively on\nthe reality of Yemeni media and journalism, and on women’s work in\ngeneral.”<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \nIn addition; Makanati project aims also to enhance the presence of women\nin Yemeni media by building the capacity of women journalists in the\nIndependent Administration to aim at sustaining media projects, their\nconditions of success and the managerial and leadership skills required to run\nthe media team. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is noteworthy that SEMC is a non-profit\ncivil society organization promoting a successful and transparent economic\nsystem through training and raising the citizens\u2019 awareness of economic issues,\nand enhancing transparency and citizen participation in decision-making. It\npromotes professional media and economic empowerment of youth and women and\nenhancing their role in peacebuilding.<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
