<\/span><\/span><\/u><\/b><\/p>\n In cooperation with the U.S Embassy in Sanaa, Studies and Economic Media Center (SEMC) organized a training course on “economic and social rights” for independent media journalists.<\/span><\/p>\n At the opening ceremony, SEMC Chairman, Mr, Mustafa Nasr said this session aimed to build capabilities of <\/span><\/span>independent economic journalists on economic and social rights, relying on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and other international covenants and agreements with this regard.<\/span><\/p>\n He emphasized on the importance of <\/span>media’s role in the protection of rights with its various forms, pointing out that political press, unfortunately, overshadowed economic and social ones.<\/span><\/p>\n Mr. Ahmed Al-Humati<\/span>, deputy of Ministry of Information, praised on the session specialized in economic and social rights, emphasizing on the role of <\/span><\/span>media being the link between the state and society and they, as journalists, must act upon their roles professionally and impartially.<\/span><\/p>\n In his speech and <\/span><\/span>on behalf of the Minister of Information Nadia Al-Saqqaf, Al-Hamati added that everyone in society has a relation with the economy, emphasizing that politics is an intensive economy matter and that who wants to enter politics should <\/span><\/span>realize the needs of society economically, expressing his regret for the failure to form the Economic and Social Council by the previous government and stated: “I hope that it will not happen again in this new government.”<\/span><\/p>\n Head of the civil society sector in the Supreme National Authority for Combating Corruption, Mrs. Noor Baabbad confirmed interdependence between economic and social rights and the principles of good governance, the media and the role it takes to fight for those rights.<\/span><\/p>\n Baabbad pointed out that the right of access to information law, which was recently approved in Yemen in the promotion of rights, referring to misuse that we are witnessing as the transfer of fake and non-verified information.<\/span><\/p>\n This economic and social rights course, which was delivered by specialized trainer Mr. Mutahar Al-Buthiji, <\/span>targeted <\/span><\/span>25 independent journalists of independent newspapers and websites <\/span><\/span>.It came as a part of the second phase of institutional and professional economic journalism development project in <\/span><\/span>Yemen carried out by the SEMC in collaboration with the US Embassy in Sanaa, targeting 175 male and female <\/span><\/span>press individuals to build their capacities professionally, <\/span><\/span>including <\/span><\/span>investigative journalism , writing <\/span>humanitarian <\/span> journalistic stories, writing in economic and social rights and access to sources of information.<\/span><\/p>\n SEMC is a civil society organizations, non-profitable working on spreading awareness of economic issues and the promotion of good governance and transparency and the participation of citizens in decision-making and the creation of professional <\/span>media. <\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" In cooperation with U.S Embassy in Sanaa, Studies & Economic Media Center (SEMC ) has organized a training course on “economic and social rights” for independent media journalists In cooperation with the U.S Embassy in Sanaa, Studies and Economic Media Center (SEMC) organized a training course on “economic and social rights” for independent media journalists.
