The Youth & Women Support Center (YWSC) \u2013 Taiz branch demanded the Ministry of Public Work and the Governor of Taiz to resume work in the uncompleted Shar’ab Al-Rawnah rural main road at which work was suspended for 18 years, and <\/span>investigate<\/span> the reasons of its incompletion.<\/span><\/p>\n


<\/span><\/p>\n

YWSC <\/span>revealed<\/span> that the General Corporation for Roads and Bridges took 10% of the costs of the project as a commission and contracted with sub-contractors, and this led to the result that all contractors became unobligated and had no commitment to complete the road.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n


<\/span><\/p>\n

The <\/span>YWSC <\/span>demanded the accounting of corrupt officials responsible for wasting billions of riyals on this road, at which it doesn’t exceed 35 KM. The center also demanded the new Minster of Public Work to complete the rural road that serves hundred thousands of people, and contract with a new contractor to complete the road.<\/span> <\/span> <\/p>\n


<\/span><\/p>\n

YWSC <\/span>also expressed its surprise of Ministry of Public Work’s neglect towards its calls, complaints and protests that demanded completion of the road, which is the main connecting path of Shar’ab Al-Rawnah district to the governorate of Taiz and other governorates.<\/span><\/p>\n


<\/span><\/p>\n

Within this press release, an emphasis was given on the importance of Contracting with a qualified contracting company to resume the work in the road according to a time-plan and with the involvement of NGOs, youth and media in implementation and monitoring.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n


<\/span><\/p>\n

It is worth mentioning that Shar’ab Al-Rawnah district’s people suffer from the absence of essential services like roads, water, health care and a suffer of the low level of education.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Youth & Women Support Center \u2013 Taiz <\/span> <\/span>branch is one of the main centers established within the “Voices of Youth & Women” project that is implemented by Studies & Economic Media Center (SEMC) in Cooperation with the European Delegation in Sana’a, and in partnership with four organizations, one of these is Maeen Center For Social Development in Taiz.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
