The Studies and Economic Media Center (SEMC) issued today, Sunday, a policy paper titled \u201cEntrepreneurship in Marib: An Analysis of Challenges and Proposed Policies\u201d<\/em>, which highlighted the reality of the business environment in the governorate, the obstacles it faces, and the policies needed to enhance investment opportunities and entrepreneurial projects. The paper noted that since 2015, Marib Governorate has witnessed remarkable economic expansion driven by increasing waves of displacement. By the end of 2024, the number of registered economic activities had exceeded 19,000, the majority of which were concentrated in Marib City.However, despite this growth, entrepreneurs in Marib face major challenges, most notably: the absence of a local strategic vision, weak infrastructure, particularly electricity, roads, and the internet, complex government procedures, the lack of a specialized commercial court, difficulty in accessing affordable financing, and limited integration of entrepreneurial concepts into education and training.<\/p>\n

The paper presented a set of proposed policies, including drafting a local strategic vision for entrepreneurship linked to the needs of sustainable development, updating the legal and regulatory framework, and establishing a specialized commercial court.<\/p>\n

It also highlighted the importance of simplifying government procedures through \u201cone-stop shop\u201d centers and unified electronic platforms for registration and licensing. In addition, it stressed the need to improve infrastructure, including completing the second phase of the Marib Gas Station and maintaining road networks.<\/p>\n

The paper further called for expanding financing opportunities through accessible financial instruments, activating the role of banks and small and medium-sized financing institutions, as well as supporting entrepreneurial education and creating business incubators and innovation hubs to enable youth to transform their ideas into productive projects.<\/p>\n

The paper affirmed that developing the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Marib requires integrated efforts from local government, the private sector, and civil society, efforts that would empower youth and investors while enhancing opportunities for sustainable economic growth in the governorate.<\/p>\n

It is worth noting that the Studies and Economic Media Center (SEMC) is a Yemeni civil society organization that works for a successful and transparent Yemeni economy by raising awareness of economic and development issues, promoting transparency and good governance, and fostering professional and responsible media.<\/p>\n
