With journalists continuing to be targeted by governments, extremist groups and individuals, 2015 became another of the deadliest years on record for members of the media.
According to Reporters Without Borders, over 100 journalists were killed either while carrying out their work, or in circumstances which remain unclear, while some 54 journalists were captured and held hostage around the world.
All of these 54 kidnapped journalists were abducted in the Arab world, with 26 being taken in Syria, 13 in Yemen, 10 in Iraq and eight in Libya.
