Aden : Trains the private sector advocacy Team

Interim Capital , Aden : A training workshop has been concluded for the private sector on advocacy and mobilization , ten representatives of the Yemeni private sector from Taiz , Aden , Sana’a ,Hadramout and Hudeidah provinces attended the workshop .

The workshop , organized by studies & Economic Media Center (SEMC) in cooperation with chamber of industry and commerce – Aden , aims to strengthen the skills of the participants in the concept of advocacy , its strategies and tools in order to serve Yemeni private sector’s issues as to improve business environment and to restore Yemeni economy as well .

Abu Bakr Salem Aa’Obaid , the Chairman of chamber of industry and commerce in Aden , stressed of the importance of such workshop which comes in light many challenging facing the private sector  . “Countries are not built except with Will and management “ Ba’Obaid Added .

Also Ba’Obaid called on on the government to respond to the demands of the private sector in order to alleviate the suffering of citizens, and he reviewed the challenge facing the private sector such as the imposition of paying customs duties in cash and the  difficulty of opening credits to the banking sector at home and the difficulty of transferring money .

From His part , Mustafa Nasr , chairman of SEMC , welcomed the participants who represents  an elite team from business community supporting the efforts of the economic reform team (ERT) chaired by Mr. Ahmed Bazara’a .

 

Nasr reviewed the efforts exerted by the economic reform team (ERT) in serving the issues of the private sector , pointing the most prominent stations of the team and the visions , policies the team presented to the decision makers  in order to enhance the voice of the private sector and enable it to participate actively in the government policies and decisions concerned with economic affairs in the country .

Over the course  , managed by the expert and media consultant Nashwan Al-Sumairi,  the advocacy team identified  , in light of the priorities adopted by the economic reform team (ERT) ,  many  of issues which will be advocated during the next period   .

Economic Reform team (ERT) is an informal working group involving Yemeni business tycoons, men and women, all community leaders who have worked since 2007 towards the enhancement of the private sector’s role by engaging in high-level talks over the country’s transitional period, including the National Dialogue Conference and the Friends of Yemen meeting.

The Studies and Economic Media Center (SEMC) is one of the most prominent Yemeni NGOs that works on , and spreads  awareness of economic issues, in addition to buttressing good governance and public engagement in decision making, and working towards the creation of professional media
