Maeen’s Youth Launches Initiatives to Support Local Development

`Studies & Economic Media Center (SEMC ) ,in cooperation with European delegation in Yemen implemented a workshop with the youth of Maeen District Capital City of Sana’a on Enhancing the youth’s role in supporting local development.

Mr. Mohammed Farhan, SEMC Project’s Manager clarified in the opening ceremony that Youth should play their role represented in problem analyzing and needs’ identifying, monitoring and evaluation, as well as advocacy and awareness in aims for active participation in local development in their societies and determine the mechanism of regulation from which the youth will play their roles in promoting local development.

Farhan also pointed to the importance of Youth’s role in serving the development’s issues in Maeen District, given the fact that the Directorate of the largest census in the districts of the capital. clarifying that no development if Youth don’t practice their role of participation on serving the development issues.

In his parts Mr. Ali Al-Amoudi the local expert of building Youth’s Initiatives praised the efforts of SEMC for enabling youth. Saying that young people represent the majority of the population of Yemen. Noting that without taken advantage of this majority, this will be a great loss to the nation.

During the workshop, participants discussed the development priorities in Maeen District, and they identified three development issues the poverty, Hygiene & Optimization and Education.

At the workshop’s conclusion, three separate initiatives launched to support the development of the three issues, in addition to developing action plans for their activities within the initiatives.

This workshop facilitated by the national expert Mr. Labib Shaif and attended by 30 of youth male and female of Maeen District and it comes within the project of youth & women voices that implementing by SEMC in cooperation with European delegation in Yemen. The project aims to enhance the communication between the social activists of youth, women, organizations, local council members at the local level to enhance decentralization and supporting priorities of youth & women.
