At the opening of the workshop, the chairman of Studies & Economic Media Center – SEMC, Mustafa Nasr, spoke about the role that independent media outlets and digital media platforms in Yemen played in promoting peace through publishing media pieces that promote coexistence, unlike the media outlets that controlled by conflict parties, which worked to fuel the conflict.

Mr. Nasr added that this workshop aims to discuss the role that the media and journalists can play to promote coexistence and peace in the society.

From his part, the US ambassador explained that Journalists play an important role in providing accurate information  in their coverage that enables the public to question government officials, and in the conflict the media’s role becomes more important in conveying accurate information to people to make them know what is happening around them.
