The Studies and Media Economic Center (SEMC) disclosed as many as 55 media freedom violations committed during the second quarter of 2016. These included three killings , 16 abductions , seven arrests , one injury , and two physical assaults . They also comprised seven dismissals and suspensions of jobs and salaries , five cases of intimidation , four cases of instigation , two cases of hacking face-book pages , six cases involving storming and blowing up of houses and media outfits , and one case of torture .
Sana’a and Aden governorates account for the bulk of such breaches- with each witnessing 18 violations (32.7% ). There were seven violations (12.7%) in Taiz, five (9%) in Hodeida, four (7.2%) in Ibb, two(3.6%) in Shabwa, and one such violation (1.8%) in Hadhramout. Click to download the full Report
