Continued Defamation and Incitement Campaigns Against Journalists
The recent period has witnessed an escalation in defamation, incitement, and digital targeting campaigns against a number of journalists in Yemen, including women media professionals: Hanan Fazaa, Ahd Yaseen, Hala Badhawi, Wafaa Al-Mutari, and others.
These campaigns have involved personal and professional abuse, as well as accusations affecting reputation and private life, constituting a violation of the right to dignity and personal security and posing a threat to the victims’ psychological well-being. Such practices are among the most serious indirect violations of press freedom, as they contribute to creating a hostile and restrictive environment for media work and negatively affect male and female journalists’ ability to carry out their profession freely, independently, and safely
