A virtual meeting to discuss collaboration opportunities between organizations and media institutions.

Today, Thursday, the third virtual meeting was held between women-led civil society organizations and media institutions and journalists, who are members of the “Yamaniyat ” project and “Makanati” to support women’s issues in Yemen.

The meeting was organized by Studies and Economic Media Centre (SEMC) in partnership with the French Media Development Agency (CFI) as part of the Yamaniyat project activities to enhance women’s participation in the peacebuilding process in Yemen.

Haifa Al-Odaini, the coordinator of the Yamaniyat project, emphasized that the purpose of the meeting is to strengthen collaboration opportunities between civil society organizations, media institutions and journalists. The meeting aimed to identify the challenges facing civil society organizations in promoting women’s participation in the peacebuilding process in Yemen and the efforts made to achieve this goal through collaboration with media institutions.

Al-Odaini added, “Understanding the role of media institutions in supporting and achieving social harmony and enhancing the rights of minorities in this meeting will help many journalists present with us propose new ideas for producing journalistic materials for the project’s next phase.”

Representatives of several organizations and media institutions reviewed the efforts to support and enhance the role of women in the peacebuilding process in Yemen, as well as the obstacles they face in covering issues related to minorities.

At the end of the meeting, many journalists and reporters present contributed with discussions on challenges in accessing information and statistics from civil society organizations and mechanisms for dealing with them.

Participants agreed on the necessity of establishing a mechanism between journalists and civil society organizations through the Yamaniyat project to facilitate access to relevant information and statistics related to what is being produced and worked on.

SEMC is a non-profit civil society organization working to raise awareness about economic issues, promote transparency, involve citizens in decision-making, and develop professional media. It aims to empower youth and women economically and enhance their role in peacebuilding.
